Wedding Address Clarification

Posted on Oct 13, 2008 under All Posts, Announcements, From Ken & Krissi, General Info | No Comment

Hello everyone!

We hope you’ve received your wedding invitation by now. In fact, you might be noticing a slightly confusing bit of information in regards to the address listed.

The event location is on “South Woodson Drive.” On the invite we included the word “Mt.,”  which should have been omitted and is incorrect. The Google Map, located at the bottom of the Wedding Info page shows the correct location. The ceremony and reception location is a a residence located near the Mt. Woodson Country Club in the gated community on the same grounds.

We will be starting an email update list this week - please send me your email address ASAP if we don’t already have it.

Thanks!

Planning Update

Ken and I have been ‘getting down to business’ in the last two weeks - in regards to the wedding, of course!

Everything is going good and things are kicking into high geer. We’ve managed to take care of most of the details (or at least plan most of the details?) and have made the usual arrangements for tuxedos, paid for the wedding rings, and purchased last-minute decorations/details.

The big hurdle (sending out the invitations) is nearing completion! The guest list is finalized, most of the invites are addressed and I hope to get them mailed sometime this week. Just hang in there if you’re expecting one.

Please take a minute to look at the wedding info page (suggestions/instructions about how to get to the wedding, where to stay, what to do, etc.) and while you’re at it, why not meet some of our wedding party?

We’re looking forward to seeing you very soon!

2008 - So Far

Posted on Sep 15, 2008 under All Posts, Announcements, From Ken & Krissi, General Info | No Comment

For Ken and I, 2008 has been a year full of challenges we never anticipated. After nearly 8 years together, this year has, by far, been the most difficult.

The biggest challenge has been dealing with the insurmountable grief that came  with the sudden and unexpected death of Ken’s best friend, Elaine on April 25th.

Not only was Elaine Ken’s best friend for the past 9 years, she was his buddy in the military (where they originally met) cube-mate at Raytheon (where they both worked on the same project) and a huge part of our family.  Elaine was our son Alek’s “Auntie” and the person we came to love and rely on for so many things - both in our daily lives and on special occasions.

Elaine’s eulogy included an acknowledgment about how much Ken meant to her:

Elaine established bonds with people she cared about. One of those unbreakable bonds was with Ken…The one man in Elaine’s life besides her father who truly held an influence over her.

Likewise, if there was anyone who held an influence over Ken, it was certainly Elaine: she was to be in our wedding and stand with Ken as a witness to our marriage.  Ken had chosen his brother, Paul, as his best man, and Elaine as his “other groomsman” (she thought that was great!)

Planning our wedding, knowing Elaine won’t be there, has been so difficult. It has truly taken the wind out of our sails in more ways than one. Elaine was always the party planner, never forgetting anyone’s birthday or missing the chance for a good time - planning our wedding without her has left us feeling lost.

Elaine’s death has been the single most difficult thing we’ve faced as a couple, and the thought of canceling our ‘wedding’ (not our marriage) has crossed our minds more than once. We have really struggled in wanting to celebrate, knowing that one of the key people who always supported our relationship won’t be with us.

We are sorry that we haven’t been more communicative with our friends and family about our wedding - please forgive us for dragging our feet.

The invites (for December 6, 2008 in San Diego County, CA) are sitting in our computer room ready to be sent, we hope to get them out shortly.  In the meantime, if you’d like to contact us, you can always send an email (the link is in the side-bar to your right) or give us a call.

We love you all and look forward to seeing you.

Our 2007 Holiday Note

Posted on Dec 16, 2007 under All Posts, Announcements, From Ken & Krissi | 1 Comment

Happy Holidays, Family & Friends!

2007 has been good to us – On June 11th Krissi received a kidney transplant thanks to her brother, Andrew, who donated one of his. Her kidney has been working great & she’s enjoying life without dialysis.

Ken has been working at Raytheon for nearly 6 years. He’s happy that his new position in the company requires him to travel much less. In his ‘off time’ he plays World of Warcraft (an online game) & takes care of our little family. He’s looking forward (as we all are!) to seeing Mom & Dad Billings in Arizona for Christmas.

Alek turned 7-years-old on July 30th & began second grade in August. He excels in school & is above his grade-level in reading and spelling. He likes most of his subjects, but prefers gym class. He also began training in Tae Kwon Do & earned his Yellow Belt in November.

Our dogs, Trixie, Sassy & Hunny Bear are as cute as ever. Hunny Bear (being the ‘baby’) is the most spoiled.

Ken & Krissi would like to announce that they have set a wedding date (finally!) Save the date for December 6, 2008 for their wedding which will be held in Ramona, California (near San Diego).

We hope you have a wonderful holiday! Love, Ken, Krissi, Alek (& the dogs)
